Bounds acquired a reputation as a man convinced of the essential, life-affirming and life-enriching qualities of the Christian faith. He toured and lectured widely, and was praised by several contemporaries for both his oratory and written works. In examining the texts within this volume, we realize how well they corroborate Bounds' reputation as a serious, wise and intense servant of God. Said by associates to never utter foolishness, and to take meals and awaken early each day mindful of the Lord, Bounds was occasionally referred to by his acquaintances as an 'Eagle of God' for his steadfast attitude and lifestyle.
