Bilingual Spanish/English 192 pages with 130 color photographs. This is a documentary and not a travel guide nor coffee table book. These are photographs of Cubans going about their everyday lives - none was posed nor paid - they are not models and no photograph was made to look pretty - or to make a point.. This book was made without governmental aid or intervention. It was not supported by any group or organization. The politics of Cuba and the government are not a part of this book. It is about the indomitable spirit of the Cuban people in the face of adversity.
The photographs are candid looks at the material shortages, lack of transportation, food, jobs, and money and how the Cuban spirit prevails in the great strength of its people. The photographs were made throughout all the provinces - not just in the faded grandeur of Havana.
Cubans have a great national pride, partly from their success with free education and medical care. But even more that they are survivors who will make the most of life with what they have..
