This is the third collection of a cappella music by Thomas Tallis by The Cardinall's Musick and their leader, Andrew Carwood. The musicians follow the same basic plan, and all three recordings are worthwhile additions to any library of English Renaissance music. As on the earlier Salve intemerata, Carwood follows roughly the development of Tallis' career, with large Latin motets at the beginning and the sparse Protestant service music to which he adapted under the reign of Elizabeth I at the end.
